Behind I.Schroeder KG stand decades of experience and, above all, the interplay with our affiliated production sites: Jütro Tiefkühlkost, Jütro Feinkost and Elbak. These specialised factories make a decisive contribution to our broad range of high-quality foods, from frozen ready meals and delicatessen products through to preserved fruit. Every product from these sites tells a story of tradition, craft and a high standard of quality. Let us take a look at the three factories and at the product range they make possible.
Jütro Tiefkühlkost: quality frozen at exactly the right moment
Jütro Tiefkühlkost GmbH & Co. KG was founded on 1 July 1991 and is based in Jessen, Germany. The company specialises in processing fruit and vegetables and in producing frozen ready meals. The broad product range runs from classic vegetable mixes through to ready-to-cook dishes that suit modern daily life. Using the latest freezing technology, Jütro Tiefkühlkost makes sure that taste, texture and nutrients are preserved as well as possible, so the products reach the consumer’s plate with unaltered freshness and the highest quality.
How is that high quality secured? Jütro Tiefkühlkost uses a special flash freezing process. It brings the food down to temperatures below minus 18 degrees Celsius in the shortest possible time. Because the cooling is so rapid, no large ice crystals form in the product and the cell structure of the raw materials stays intact. The result: after defrosting, the taste, the nutrients and the crisp texture of the food remain almost unchanged.
A central part of the Jütro philosophy is the combination of tradition and innovation. The company works with sustainable production, fair partnerships with suppliers and resource-saving processing. Production processes are improved continuously, among other things to reduce the carbon footprint.
Jütro Feinkost: more than 100 years of taste and tradition
The roots of Jütro Feinkost go back more than 100 years. On 1 May 1911 Richard Meyer and his wife Marie founded the Jütro cannery in Jüterbog. Today the company stands for the production of high-quality, shelf-stable foods. The range covers a variety of products including soups, sauces, stocks and classic specialities such as letscho and borscht.
In a modern cooking facility of 400 square metres, 16 chefs work on creating new recipes and refining existing ones. What sets this apart: in preparation, Jütro Feinkost consistently avoids starch and other thickening agents. The desired texture comes solely from the natural quality of the ingredients.
Jütro Feinkost stands for quality at the highest level and pays close attention to sustainable production methods. Technologies such as heat recovery systems, which already cover 20 per cent of total energy consumption, mean energy is used efficiently and the environment is protected. With more than 100 years of experience and a clear focus on the highest quality, Jütro Feinkost remains a dependable partner for delicatessen products that shape contemporary tastes.
Elbak: freshness that lasts all year
Elbak S.A., founded in 1972 and based in Larissa, Greece, is one of the pioneers of the country’s canning industry. The product range covers a variety of fruit such as peaches, apricots and olives, along with jams, toppings and aseptic products. Elbak supplies partners in more than 70 countries across five continents and aims for long-term business relationships. The company controls the entire production process, from sowing and harvesting through to preserving and distribution. This comprehensive control secures the highest quality standards and makes it possible to meet the specific requirements of customers.
How exactly is the freshness of the products guaranteed? Elbak relies on a combination of careful raw material selection and modern processing methods. After harvesting, the products, fruit for example, are transported to the factory by the shortest possible route, where they are processed and pasteurised without delay. The process preserves important vitamins and nutrients, and no additional preservatives are used.
On the 95,000 square metre factory site, a dedicated wastewater treatment plant has been installed to protect local waters. The tins are almost fully recyclable and therefore fit the company’s environmentally aware philosophy. Elbak is also committed to the sustainable management of its orchards and works closely with farmers to support a healthy ecosystem.
